Phantom-Ease
Therapeutic Interventions for Phantom Limb Pain through Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation
About
Phantom limb pain (PLP) is a widespread neuropathic disorder experienced by 60-85% of amputees, often following traumatic injuries or surgical amputation. PLP occurs when severed nerves continue to send pain signals to the brain despite the absence of the limb, resulting in the persistent sensations of pain, pressure or tingling. Phantom-Ease strives to develop a portable, low-cost transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) device to non-invasively alleviate PLP.
